Tashi Telek,

The very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche,

The Oraganisng Chairman and committee members,

All Buddhist Societies and Centres representatives,

Ladies and gentlemen,

First of all, I would like to thank the organizer of this event for inviting me to join you in this special function. While on my way here, I read from the flyer that this Guan Gong Puja is being held here for the first time in Malaysia following the Vajrayana Buddhist tradition after Hong Kong in 2005. I wish to thank the Thrangu Dharma Retreat Centre Tambun for their assistance in organising this Puja for the benefit of the Ipoh folks. I understand that this function is being held simultaneously at Bintulu,Sibu and Kuala Lumpur.

As most of us all aware, Guan Gong was quoted by His Holiness 17th Century Karmapa as a well known deity as well as a hero in Asia and Tibet for which he is very closely linked with Buddhism. By performing the Guan Gong Puja, we are also bringing peace and harmony to the world and at the same time foster closer relationship between the Tibetans and the Han Chinese.

I met VV Thrangu Rinpoche at the end of year 2006. I consider myself fortunate to be invited to officiate the opening for this Gung Gong and 1000 Arms Chenrezig Empowerment. V V Thrangu Rinpoche is a well known scholar of Buddhism in Tibet. He has established numerous retreat Centres in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Bangkok, England and Canada and we are fortunate today to have this great Master here to conduct this Puja for us.

I hope everybody will take this golden opportunity to come forward and attend the Guan Gong Puja and at the same time do your part in supporting the running of the two-days Puja with the Jangchok Puja through kinds or deed.

As in Buddhism, Guan Gong is a Dharma Protector and is well venerated by 3 religions ie Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Guan Guan is indeed the manifestation of Loyalty, Honesty and Sincerity. We as human especially the younger generation should emulate his character in our daily life to attain the true share value of our life.

As stated in the program brochure, the launching of the reconstruction of the new Temple for the Thrangu Dharma Retreat Centre in Tambun will start soon to replace the 130 years Nam Loong Koo Miu Caves Temple. I am happy today to donate Rm _______ to kick off the starting fund to realize the dream of having the 4-storey temple with the modern facility, library and hostel

Lastly, I look forward to Thrangu Dharma Retreat Centre in Tambun as a new retreat centre in this region that will benefit all the peoplr around here.
